Structure of the ACLU organization

The ACLU is structured around a national organization, currently headed by the ACLU President, Susan N. Herman, and the ACLU Executive Director, Anthony D. Romero. Within this organization are regional affiliates, as well as special project groups. Three affiliates comprise the ACLU in California. Within each affiliate are some number of local chapters.

We are the local chapter for Santa Cruz County, a county of about 250,000 people, with over 1% of the adults being card-carrying members of the ACLU! (Our chapter has roughly 2200 members.) Our chapter is part of the ACLU of Northern California affiliate. The affiliate maintains a primary office in San Francisco and a smaller group officed in San Jose. The affiliate operates with both paid and volunteer staffers. The local chapter is entirely volunteer. Our website (which you are reading) has its home page at http://www.aclusantacruz.org.
