With the recent announcement that the California Supreme Court will hear arguments on the validity of California’s ban on same-sex marriage this will be a very timely program!

Ms. Gill, Harvard Law 2001, is an expert on the topic and will provide the audience with an overview of state law regarding Proposition 8, what actions Attorney General Jerry Brown is taking, how the ACLU became involved and the steps it has taken in the post-election scenario. Ms. Gill has been very active in the Proposition 8 ACLU campaign and in the litigation before the California Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court hearing on Proposition 8 will take place on March 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, and will be televised live on the California Channel.  A ruling is due within 90 days of the hearing.

John Laird will introduce Ms. Gill and comment on the legislative history of this issue.
