 Latinas and Lesbians and Allies (LyLyA) has announced that they will be creating the First Annual Dyke March in Watsonville to be held on August 22nd, 2009. Designed to give visibility to a community that many times is shrouded by homophobia, this will undoubtedly be a historic event. The march will begin with a rally at Watsonville Plaza at 5 pm.  The Santa Cruz Chapter board of the ACLU meets monthly, usually on the fourth Monday of the month, from 7 - 9 pm. September, 2009 will be an exception, with the meeting on the third Monday. Our local chapter of the ACLU will be holding our annual meeting at the Louden Nelson Center, from 7 - 9 PM on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. The meeting will include a review of the past year's activities and discussion of 2010 plans, plus election of 2010 Board Members. Following the brief handling of this business stuff, we will present a debate and community discussion of how President Obama is doing with issues of the civil liberties of Americans - a sort of Constitutional Report Card on our President.

“Women take back our streets" invites everyone, men and women, who wish to make our streets safer for our mothers, daughters, wives, sisters to walk freely without the fear of being attacked.

The ACLU Santa Cruz Chapter is sponsoring a panel discussion on privacy and social networking at the University of California Santa Cruz. The event is scheduled in the Humanties Lecture Hall B206 at UCSC for March 9, 6-8pm. FREE ADMISSION, open to the public.

     The Santa Cruz County Chapter of the A.C.L.U. meets every third Monday of the month at 7 p.m.  April's meeting will be in Room 2 at Santa Cruz City Hall.  Board meetings are open to all current A.C.L.U. members.  Contact info@aclusantacruz for more information.

The Santa Cruz Chapter of the ACLU Announces:

 Sunday, June 6th in downtown Santa Cruz, the ACLU will again be participating in the Pride Parade to celebrate GLBT Liberation. We will have a banner and encourage all local members and friends to join us in marching from Pacific Avenue and Cathcart Streets to the County Building (about ten blocks). The parade kicks off at 11am, but come early and enjoy the positive atmosphere and colorful crowds.

We recommend bringing water, sunscreen, and a hat. When you get to San Lorenzo Park Bench lands (near the County Building) you can enjoy a day of music, food, booths, and fun.
