ACLU - SC Chapter Annual Meeting

Nov 12 2008 - 7:00pm
Nov 12 2008 - 9:00pm

The Santa Cruz Chapter of the ACLU will hold it's annual membership meeting at Louden Nelson Center. Join us to hear about the events and accomplishments of the past year and to discuss the coming year. This is a great opportunity for members and non-members to come to learn about the local chapter, and to make suggestions about the kinds of public education events and legal actions in which you'd like to see the chapter engaged.

Several board members and others are now planning for this meeting. We intend to make the "business meeting" short (report on the past year's activities, plans for the next, elect a new board and such) and spend most of the time learning about the innovative juvenile detention system in Santa Cruz County.

Little known to much of our community, we host a model program which has been successfully diverting many youth offenders away from incarceration, and at the same time reducing overall youth crime. Come and learn more on November 20, 2008. Hope to see you there!

We have three exciting speakers lined up for this discussion - click here to learn about these 3 people .

Two other elements of each annual meeting are the election of the Board for the next year, and a speaker of note. The event is open to all members of the ACLU as well as non-members, and input from all is welcomed. Nominations for the Board are open - click here to see the list of nominees. We hope to see you there.
